  3. Come on! Who's WON something? Besides more pulltabs.

3 weeks and hundreds of tickets into this I've won two coupons that I've used. 25 cents off a Snickers and 50 cents off a pound of butter. My store has given away one $1000 prize. But not to me.

    1. The 2nd year I won a $1000 Albertsons gift card! They did a cake in front of the store, and took my picture. And the first year a couple in my city won the $500,000 cash. They did an article in our newspaper. But yes every year they post an entire list if all of the prizes won in each category. The people who ACTUALLY have one of the 2 rare pieces are smart to look for someone else with the other rare piece. They're a ar. A few who have posted they have one of the 2 winning pieces. I hope they find the other piece. Chances are it's in another state. But the people posting they gage all of the pieces that aren't rare, don't get that everyone else has those exact same prices. Plus several duplicates LOL

    5. Yesterday the local stores blew out all the remaining game pieces. I opened at least 250 and finally won major prizes (ie beyond free tickets and cent-off coupons). A Redbox and a rope sausage.

It was fun, and I got a lot of discounted Snickers and tuna. But nothing on the gameboard or entered codes other than eye strain. Way too much work for nothing. Next year it's instant winners only.

    8. hi everyone,
      here is my story...
I wrote a list of the ones needed...the rare ones...for my mom to work off that list...she has a brain bleed so she is losing memory and intelligence daily..so I made the list for her to make things easier..so one day we sat down and worked on them together and got ?D. all was needed was ?G. In my haste to take care of my handicap stroke victim friend I left it up to her to paste to the board after I crossed it off the list...then around the last day I got about a 100 tickets and alright...to my delight we got ?G...so I grabbed the board which was moved...and no
?D so I questioned mom...of course she doesn't know or remember...so we could have won mom...but there ya go...we didn't cuz we cant find the crossed off ?D now...anyone have it and willing to part with it, or claim together? maybe we can each get a $250,000 dream home...? instead of a $500,000 dream home..? I could settle for that...AGAIN I HAVE THE ?G...ANYONE STILL HAVE THE ?D PLEASE TEXT ME AT 480-334-3867 IN AZ. I WILL BUY YOU ALL THE HAIR GEL YOU NEED...LOL...THANKS

  4. We won the $5000 Monopoly prize. But the shitty part about it is that after taking pictures and having 6 employees confirm the win we received a letter in the mail that stated that we put the wrong ticket on the board. Keep in mind we have pictures and we did not put the wrong ticket on the board... over 10 people confirmed the win including our close family memebers and the Vons store superviser even signed the winning Ticket receipt paper. So long story short the person who opened the letter that carried our tickets at the Monopoly headquarters did not have any integrity and switched the ticket to a completely different one. Just want to let you guys know to TAKE PICTURES before you send the winning tickets. They have no integrity and will Rob you. We are very lucky we took pictures but I doubt they will do anything about it.

    1. With all the additional collaboration on the win confirmation, I bet you will receive the prize. Keep your fingers crossed.

    2. You can dispute their decision and challenge their integrity; and contact the Federal trade commission if they do not pay you the winnings. Make a complaint with them, the BBB, reach out to the person in charge of The Monopoly game, the president of the company and the local news if needed. If you have proof and ALL those witnesses confirmed you should be golden. The person who improperly handled your game board and game pieces needs to be reprimanded. Prizes will be verified well after May 23; as some people send their winning pieces in. Where is this "Vons Store" located???? BTW the store director should have been the ONLY person to have verified and completed your paperwork with you. Maybe it is the store that is at fault... If you remain unpaid, go after the store itself... Please update with this matter as soon as you hear more news!!

    3. I am not surprised. This monopoly game is a scam. Notice that ONLY if no one claims the 6 top prizes, there will be just one drawing for $500,000. So they keep $4,000,000 in prize money. Most of $165M they claim to dole out is in the form of 5-10% discounts on products sold in the stores, most of which I don't buy anyway.

    2. My guyfriend started collecting the tickets from the beginning and mailing in the second chance drawing via mail. Then we both stocked up on Friskies cat food when it was on sale 3/$1....we have 6 cats between us (he has 4 at his house & I have 2 at my house) and it was a 'no-brainer' that if we were going to buy cat food anyway, might as well get it on sale. We bought it by the case where available & also ordered it by the case from various stores during the double ticket week…we bought approximately a 9 month supply…24 cans per case, 2 tickets per can. We collected well over 2,500 tickets....possibly more like 3,000 tickets.

My guyfriend had no clue how time consuming/difficult this would be to win, but I knew it wouldn't be easy. I’m just going along to help him, really….he is a hopeless optimist…I’m the realist! So, I created a chart on some butcher paper with the alphabet and $ and ? symbols....imagine 7 squares wide by 4 squares tall...28 squares in all. We hired my 78 year old retired mother to open all of the tickets and cut them apart…she loves to help, so she was willing to help out for the cost of dinner…=)…she had no clue what she was getting into, but she had time on her hands…=). Then I divided up all of the tickets onto the paper chart (in groups, as the piles became too tall!). We quickly filled up 2 game boards with the easy to find tickets and have all of the semi-precious tickets except A, B, & E’s. That means that we are still missing 1 ticket on almost every game card…apparently, so is everyone else! After almost 3,000 tickets, it seems as if about 10% were winning the ‘2 more Monopoly Tickets’…woo-hoo! Most were codes to enter for the second chance drawing. About 25% were coupons for stuff in the grocery store….mostly for stuff I wouldn’t buy/use. We did win some free stuff:

      $5 Safeway Gift Card
      Mexican Coca-Cola (2)
      Redbox DVD Rental (2)
      Puffs Facial Tissue
      Hair Spray
      Bratwurst
      Toothpaste
& a couple other grocery items I can’t remember off the top of my head

So, now that I’ve gotten through all of the game pieces (Hallelujah!), I guess I’ll have the FUN job of entering them online…yippee! He was entering them in the mail (as he is a dinosaur on the computer), but I explained to him that if we had 2,000 2nd chance drawing entries and it cost 50 cents for a stamp, that would cost him $1,000 (not to mention the time!)…so he says I can enter them online. I have almost a pint-sized ziplock baggie stacked full of 2nd chance tix….fun! That’ll probably take many evenings, for which my guyfriend says he’ll pay me the huge sum of $100. He’s complaining on how much this is all costing him….=). For the most part, it has been entertainment value. We’re eternal optimists over here and he plays LOTTO everyday….has been playing for 25 years….still waiting to win the big one! =)

Okay, to sum it all up…..someone has to win, right? It could be US! Or, it could be YOU! If you don’t play, you can’t win. Looking at the winner’s list online it appears that the majority of the prizes have not yet been claimed and there is only 1 more week to get more tix…..so, there are still many chances to win. DON’T GIVE UP!!! GOOD LUCK!!! =)
Crazy Cat Lady & Her Crazy Guyfriend >^..^<
BTW: We are employed, college-educated and 50ish living in California….just thought you’d be wondering….and hopefully this made you smile! =)

    5. You ask "Someone has to win, right?" No, they do not. I posted an excessively long message on this issue below (April 28, 1:08 pm) but here it is in one sentence: The game appears to have designed in a way so that not all the prizes will be claimed.
For the top prizes, it is improbable that anyone will obtain both the rare and semi-rare game pieces for any given prize through normal shopping.
The Monopoly game is a promotion for the supermarkets and the companies (Sara Lee, Tyson, Friskies) that appear on the game pieces and board (almost certainly paid for) and which have "bonus tickets" associated with their purchase (I suspect this is paid for but do not know this for a fact).

      Delete
    6. Nice story. I had all the tickets for the million dollar but did not know it. Finally i found this blog and realized what the rare pieces were. I had checked $618H in my list but could not find it. Yikes!
I have a couple more weeks to locate the tix.

      Delete
  6. Random thoughts to share, and I do apologize for going on a bit. You may skip the entire message in good conscience. Today is April 28, with just a few days left to pick up game tickets.
The supermarket game website has posted winners through April 22 for all the $500-and-up prizes. As of April 22, there were ZERO winners listed for the $1 million, the $500,000 vacation home and the $100,000. These are the top 21 prizes to claim in the game (3, 3 and 15). (3 of the 25 home makeover prizes, the next prize down the list, have been claimed).
Now, theoretically the prizes could have been claimed by now, but not posted so as not to discourage shoppers from continuing to try. Also theoretically, it may be that the winning tickets were deliberately held back til late in the game to build excitement. A final theory is that there may be someone who needs only a semi-rare game piece and is trying to get it on their own before making a deal with the kinds of people who make offers here.
I don't think any of this is is true, though, and I direct you to the back of the game board, which lists nine winners (by first name and initial) and home city for the 2015 version of the game. Except for a $500,000 "second chance" drawing that someone was bound to win (this is an important point), the most valuable prize listed is for the $100,000. This suggests that no one won any of the larger prizes.
My own theory is that the top prizes are far, far harder to win than most people comprehend. Suppose you are a "casual" player, as I think most shoppers probably are, and do not have a list of the rare game codes. It is certainly possible to receive the ultra-rare game piece and not know it -- there's a gap on your game sheet and you just assume that's the ultra-rare one. Or possibly you do just a little of your shopping at the Monopoly supermarket, and through pure luck you get an ultra-rare piece and just don't shop enough to get everything else you need. Or any number of other reasons why someone never puts 2 and 2 together.
Here's one other thought: Nationwide, there are 16 supermarket chains participating in the game, some big (Safeway, Albertsons), some small and some I've never even heard of (United Express). Vons (huge in the West) is new this year. There are three $1 million cash prizes "available." Suppose there was some measure taken to ensure that the three were distributed to different stores. This means that at 13 of these chains, you cannot possibly win the $1 million. Your chances literally are non-existent.
As others here have noted, the game is masterfully designed to make you think you're just "one away" from winning when in fact you have a board full of pieces that essentially say, Sorry, this piece is not a winner. This is the hard part for most people to understand: you can have 400+ game pieces AND BE NO CLOSER TO WINNING A MAJOR PRIZE THAN YOU WERE BEFORE THE GAME STARTED.
SO I've had a little fun looking at my pieces. Someone at my Vons won $2,500 -- not bad. This website has made the game much easier, as I need not worry that I have accidentally stumbled across an ultra-rare piece without the corresponding easy pieces (I haven't). I have not let the game alter my buying practices in the least -- no purchases made just to get "bonus" tickets or to increase my spending for more game pieces. I have received "a few extra" game pieces from checkout clerks who know me, and from shoppers in line ahead of me who didn't want theirs. I have "won" two free DVD rentals, one of which came off another shopper's unwanted game piece. That's about what I expected, given the odds.

    1. That is a interesting point about how there are more supermarket chains participating than there are rare pieces available so technically some of the chains will have no chance to have the big prize winners.

  8. Thanks to the other anonymous among all the other anonymouses who provided the lengthy posting(s) that made this exercise informational. Your mention of last year's winners' list I find a bit disconcerting, with the possible conclusion that all six of the grand prizes and up to 14 of the 100K prizes had not been won. I have a hard time believing that there are that many people playing with large numbers of markers that have no idea of what they might have of value. I would prefer believing that some of the grand prizes were won but not listed, or that some legal method of chicanery were employed to get those rare markers to people who would not turn them in (management?), or lowest of the low, not even have them printed, who's to know? In any case, with my 1 not so rare marker I won't bother you with, and all the 25c and 50c off coupons I won't be turning in, I would have to say that playing the real thing as a kid was a helluva lot more fun. If you would, please respond with how many of the anonymouses are yours to satisfy my curiosity. Thanks

    1. Actually, there aren't winners of the big prizes BECAUSE of the whole rare + semi-rare shenanigans. Think about this: The odds of getting a semi-rare are HARDER than getting J544B (the measly $5 prize).

I don't believe many people frequent online boards trying to match up pieces; instead, they try on their own. The odds of getting BOTH pieces for a million dollars yourself? Try half-a-billion TIMES 6000! Yes, into the Quadrillions! It is no wonder they never give any of the big stuff away (or, they do solely because someone is smart and goes online and gets the semi-rare piece to go with their rare piece)

    2. never played this game before.. new shopper on my own...
got all the easy pieces the first couple weeks. punched my codes into there site.. got some free tickets ... turned them in got more....our stores in Illinois had double and triple ticket weekends ... got lots more.. spent hours and hours opening tickets and punching them in... then I got a rare one
B505A I thought I won... how could they give the stores in my area one of the tickets and not the other B506B... no one could possible win the prize...I had the other ticket... so I went back to the store that gave me the ticket... every day every other day.... spending at least $100.00 each time... by this time management knew I had that ticket not only by the numbers u punch in the computer but they checked my ID with my payment to so who I was... every time I printed the free tickets from punching in the numbers I took them to the service desk... she knew I had the ticket... waiting for the other. she said maybe they are waiting till the end so its a big .... I won... so I kept going spending money paying more for groceries than I would at walmart for the same thing...
on the 1st of may went to the store and they said they were out of tickets... I said what... I have a rare ticket and u had to have the other half now how do I find the person with the other half... I don't know... $50,0000 Dollars ...
there were 2 managers at the service desk at this time...
she said u we not garenteed to win that price... we have all our store playing the game. I said if your store didn't have the other winning ticket this game is a fraud. as I walked away they thought out of hearing distance I heard her say what did she think I was going to look through 75 boxes....
I was livid if it was here $50,000 price she would have had every employee looking for that ticket....
who know with all these prizes unclaimed maybe the store clerk if she didn't like u thru it in the trash.
id wish everyone who's half a winner start a class action law suit against them. they knew I had it ... I wasn't going to look thru 75 boxes .... one of the best thing that ever happened to me stolen by a nasty lazy store clerk ... thank u for letting me get this off my chest... its been bothering me for 4 days and I don't think I will forget it... a store clerk stole $50,000 dollars from me.... sue

    3. To Anonymous above, B505A is a semi rare which is 1 in 5000 tickets. It is hard to get, but many others have this one also. The B506B is the rare piece which is 1 out of 48,619,920. There are only 25 of them available through out all the stores so it is extremely hard to get that one. I'm sorry you didn't win, but don't think the employees where holding back the ticket.

      Delete
    4. I see your point about half a ticket. It is fraud if the other half is not even in your local store. I did not buy at the store just to get tickets. Since I get more savings at another store.

  11. This is one of the worst ripoffs in history - to win a big prize, such as the $1000000, there are 2 difficult pieces to get......if only 3 of the most difficult piece were ever printed and perhaps 10 of the semi-difficult one, the chances of a SINGLE person getting both are 3/1.2billion X 10/1.2 billion......which is 1 chance in 53 quadrillion or 1 / 5.359 X10 to the 16th power.......most of the big prizes will never be given away unless someone with a single difficult piece advertises for a person with the other one.....this game is a joke and should be illegal....

  16. How desperate we all are to win something and the lengths to which we would go to find the missing pieces. This is the very first game I got hooked on and now feeling foolish after reading this site. Quite honestly, I'll play to the end, will go to Acme for a couple of things for that last ticket today, but their prices are still so much higher than our other markets in this area. Example: Wesson oil was $4.29 Acme - only $2.77 at Target NOT ON SALE! So many other products are just marked much higher and I will not shop there. Sorry Acme employees, your mgmt must price more competitively!

    1. I decided to just ebay my remaining unopened 500 tickets and toss in the 4 semi-rares I collected to sweeten the deal. I noticed the left game piece appears to have a check code on the back of the ticket. I believe only the rare/semi-rares will appear in that position. 40. After getting a few more semi-rares and looking up images of rare/semi-rare game pieces online, I believe the winning placement theory I mentioned above is correct. If you already have a full board except for them, you can save time by only checking the left ticket as the other 3 will be common. This is the one with the code on the back and the background image covers less than half of the game piece and none on the top where it state the prize value. None of the winning pieces I could find looked like the right 3 pieces.

  42. It's almost comical reading all the posters that are trying to sell or split the semi-rare game pieces. They are all but worthless. Only the super rare (like 3 in existence) tickets have any worth, and it would be fairly easy for those holders to get the semi-rare one they need. I have a ?622D I'm just going to throw away with the other 1000 worthless tickets. The best ticket was a free skippy peanut butter.

    1. Sure when the game pieces were being handed out the semi-rares had little value. Now that you can't get any more tickets, they are worth a lot more. Even the unopened tickets are valuable now getting from 0.50 to 0.90 a piece on ebay. With the million dollar prize still unclaimed, there is a lot of interest in them.

    2. wrong!
The value of all those semi rare and all the other markers is close to nothing, there is some people with listings on e bay, and obviously no one buying them, people is getting smart and finally realize this game is not worth time and money.
No one is winning big prices because the "rare" markes are not existent.

In reading these post, this was unfair and near impossible. In opening 3k game pieces, I found it just as hard to win a $5 grocery card as is to win a million.

    1. The odds of winning are listed on the official web site. The odds of winning a $5 grocery card are one in 6000. If you "only" opened 3000 game pieces you had only a 50/50 chance to get even a $5 grocery card. The odds of winning ANYTHING in this game are truly the crappiest I have ever seen.

I don't have my game board in front of me but if 613 is semi-rare and 618 is the lone million dollar winner - that spans a range of 6 numbers, not 4. But apparently both 613 and 618 are going to be in the same batch of four. So there will be no need to purchase 613 and it is as worthless as any other non-rare piece. That probably also applies to all of the other high value prizes that require a semi-rare and a rare piece to win. In other words the semi-rare pieces are all useless. If you get the rare piece the semi-rare piece will be in the same group of four.

    1. The smaller prize that have only 1 rare piece are found on the same ticket, but why would they have semi-rare pieces if they are going to put them on the same ticket as the rare piece?

    2. That would make it easier to create a distinctive winner, but it that was true, how come the huge lack of big winners?

At least with the McDonald's game you often win a hamburger or fries. This one is pathetic. People opening a thousand tickets and the most they win is a 99c Redbox rental??!! This is offensive. The evil misanthrope who created this waste of time should be ashamed.
